against the law
A decision is "against the law" for purposes of a motion for new trial where the evidence is insufficient in law and without conflict on any material point. In re Marriage of Beilock, 81 C.A.3d 713, 146 Cal.Rptr. 675, 684.
Such exists when there is a failure to find on material issue, or when findings are irreconcilable or where evidence is insufficient in law and without conflict on any material point. Schmeltzer v. Gregory, 266 C.A.2d 420, 72 Cal.Rptr. 194, 196
